World Championship Final Special

Welcome to the first edition of the Oche Index! It’s World Championship Final day and here is my breakdown of the data behind my Power Rankings of the finalists Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen

All Rankings are using data from the Last 12 months other than Pedigree. The use data from all ranking tournaments in the PDC. Each variable has a floor of 50 and a maximum of 100.

Overall

Overall, is a combination rating that attempts to paint a picture of how good this player has been in the last 12 months. It takes into account both floor and TV elo, the 1-Year Order of Merit and different stats like 180s per leg and finishing.

Currently, Luke Littler is World Number 1 in this ranking with a 100/100 Ranking. In contrast, MvG comes in at number 3 only behind both Lukes.

Clutch

Clutch attempts to describe how ‘Clutch’ a darts player is, think of it as when they are in a deciding leg and they must win or when they have only one dart left in hand to hit a double.

Currently, Luke Humphries is number 1 here, with Luke Littler at number 6 and MvG at 24. Of course, this is just the last 12 months so this does not show how good of a ‘Clutch’ player peak MvG was currently only sitting at 72.3/100 compared to Littlers 87.0.

Finishing

This one should be pretty straightforward. It attempts to give a number out of 100 to how good in the last 12 months a player’s finishing has been. Currently number 1 here is Damon Heta, followed by Ryan Joyce.

Luke Littler currently sits at 91.3 in 4th spot whereas MvG sits at 82.5 in 7th spot.

Scoring

Another simple one. This aims to describe just how good a player’s scoring is by looking at their number of 171 - 180s per leg, first 9 average and more. So when we say who is the real big power scores of the last 12 months, this should answer that question.

Of course, Luke Littler sits number 1 here with a score of 100 closely followed by Gary Anderson on 97.7. MvG comes in currently at number 6 on 83.4

With Throw & Against Throw

This score attempts to show how good players are when they have the darts or against them

Luke Littler is currently number 1 in the world both with the throw and against it. Whereas MvG is seemingly much better against the darts, scoring 6.0 higher on the power rankings when compared to his With Throw score.

Current number 2s on both rankings are Luke Humphries with throw at 99.3 and Gary Anderson with 97.0 against the throw.

Pedigree

This one is only one to be included in big finals. It attempts to describe in the last decade, just how good and or dominant that player has been and felt apt to include something like this for the biggest game of them all.

Of course, Michael van Gerwen tops this list on 100/100, with second place being Peter Wright on 75.4! A huge gap between numbers 1 and 2.

Luke Littler is on 53.7 in the 30th spot, but considering this was his rookie year, expect him to start flying up this ranking, especially if he adds a World Championship to his name…

Let’s hope for a great World Final!
